Thumbs up for ViTrax Android QC

ViTraxMobileA ViTrax devotee since 2003, Graaff Fruit recently upped the stakes when they converted the quality control module to accommodate Android handheld devices. And all credit goes to quality control manager Hanna Visser who spearheaded this switch.

She said, “Although we’d been using ViTrax QC since 2014, I wanted the system to function with Android devices. So, with minimal effort, we were able to implement the change-over to Android QC painlessly in 2021/22.”

“The beauty of it is that we now have the option of doing quality control at other facilities which aren’t on-site, with data then being available immediately for strategic decision-making.

“Also, in the past we had to scan the barcodes manually after the trucks had left and the bin tickets were tipped manually a number of times a day. But thank goodness, now it’s in real time, so the pack-out report is live. I’m particularly thrilled about the time-saving aspect.”

FarSoft’s Mariska Cubitt, who did the roll-out, explained, “Graaff Fruit didn’t stop with Android QC. They also starting using ViTraxMobile bin tipping and bin intakes. In this instance, the advantage is that the tipped weight is allocated immediately to the production run, making turn-around time for finalising production batches a lot faster.”

Graaff Fruit is a third-generation family business, known for its top-quality stone and pome fruit.
