Blueberry boon

Kicking off its ViTrax installation, United Packhouse in Johannesburg implemented the pallet tracking and bin tracking modules late last year. Part of United Exports, United Packhouse started operations August 2015 handling blueberries grown in the north of South Africa, as well as the repacking and distributing all domestic commodities.

System coordinator Tibbie Crafford said the improvement to their production operations had been amazing. But the most praise came from hands-on packhouse manager Cleopas Makaure, “ViTrax bin and pallet tracking modules have truly produced tangible benefits, including improved stock management efficiency. At the close of our blueberry season, the packhouse could account for all fruit delivered with a much higher level of confidence. We had zero complaints from our growers and traceability was right on target.

“The system definitely has given us an enhanced perspective of packhouse management, in addition to optimising our efficiency above and beyond. I’d also like to compliment the technical support team on their timeous technical support 24/7.”
