Freddie Roux – passionate about service
In the 10 years since Farsoft’s inception, owner Freddie Roux has learnt to rely on good quality people for timeous, good quality work. In business, his motto remains service, service, service.
After matriculating in Velddrif, Freddie obtained a BSc and Teaching Diploma at Stellenbosch University. During his national service, he did IT work for the army and then taught high school Computer Studies and college lecturing for four years. After a three-year stint working for private computer companies, he started Farsoft on 1 September 1996. He initially wrote software for municipal systems, the fruit industry and other business packages. And the rest is history.
These days, Freddie spends most of his time on system analysis and design, technology research, logistics management and building client and industry relations. He wistfully said, “I often wish there was time left for actual programming – my passion.”
When not working, Freddie spends leisure time with wife Cecile and children Daniel (7) and Alida (2). A keen cyclist, he also enjoys reading biographies and other non-fiction.
