Life has become a whole lot easier at Oudam Citrus thanks to Farsoft’s FruitInfo system, according to pack house manager Gerrit Jacobs. Farsoft developed this lean and easy-to-use web-based system two years ago specifically to cater for smaller pack houses in a cost-efficient manner.

Jacobs explained that consignment notes were previously written by hand. “After the initial set-up struggle, the process has become infinitely easier. We can control everything effortlessly and it’s also so much easier to trace consignments.”

Oudam Packhouse, which was established about 10 years ago, packs its own fruit as well as that of other producers in the Citrusdal area. All its fruit is exported by Everseason. Jacobs concluded that since switching to FruitInfo in May this year, the experience had been a positive one.

With FruitInfo a pack house can be up and running on the system within minutes because operators merely use their web browsers to log in to the website. No installation or on-site setting up is required and training is minimal – if any.
