Keboes Fruit Farms (Pty) Ltd – a venture between Karsten Farms (Pty) Ltd, labour and the Black Management Forum Investment Company – epitomises the spirit of the new South Africa. With the philosophy of empowering people, Keboes has found the balance between productivity, social accountability and creating opportunities for people to grow.

Located about 230 km from Upington in the direction of Onseepkans, Keboes has 100 ha Hoodia, 7 ha onions, 6 ha dates and a massive 300 ha table grapes.

In 2006, the business installed Farsoft’s ViTrax pack house and pallet tracking systems. Keboes general manager Jaycey Fölscher reported that the installation had proved to be a watershed for this business. “Management information has become infinitely more pertinent,” he said.
